Hiiiii, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Are people still saying that? Honestly, it feels like January has already been three years long, and we’re only (but already!?) halfway through, but maybe I am only saying that because the last few weeks of 2024 felt a real doozy. Between us both getting sick right before Christmas, followed by a trip to the emergency vet for Ollie and another surprise trip to the vet a week later for Rye, it made me feel like we couldn’t catch a break there for a bit. Thankfully(!!!) both of our furbies ended up being ok, and that was honestly such a relief for us.
On a brighter note, I am excited about this new year. It feels like a fresh start, I am motivated about my resolutions, and we have some fun things planned that we’re looking forward to throughout the year!
A few random things I am loving lately:
- We try to get together for breakfast with friends one weekend every month, so I gifted myself this book for Christmas to up our ✨️brunch repertoire✨️ and we rang in the first day of the new year with homemade maple bourbon caramel cinnamon rolls. While it was indeed a tedious process, it was surprisingly easy, and the results were worth every delicious bite! Plus, I’m feeling very inspired to bake more “just because” this year.
- Abbott Elementary is back and did a crossover with Always Sunny (which is next on our list to finish watching after Malcom in the Middle! . . . and yes, I am always very behind on tv shows and movies so please don’t judge. lol) 📺
- The daily updates on Fermental’s Facebook for their “Try January” series that creatively encourages us to try something new. We say “Cheers!” to that! 🍻
- The possibility that we could see snow next week?! Look, I am a sand > snow kind of person, but I am excited to have some precipitation to go with these cold temps we’ve been having lately. My fat stack of a TBR pile and hot cocoa stash have me thinking I can handle a few days of winter weather ❄️
- Keep scrolling if you’re under 30, because this is going to really show my age 😅 but we checked another project off our list by replacing our bedroom ceiling fan, and honestly I am such a. . .fan (no pun intended! lol) 🫣
