Continuing on with the theme of our fun ‘staycation’ plans from last week. . .
After our October winery trip to Loudoun County in Northern Virginia got canceled, we started making plans to seek out a local winery here instead. We’d absolutely fallen in love with that area during our birthday trip in April (BOLO for a very delayed blog recap & trip itinerary to come soon!) and we were very much looking forward to some leaf peeping while sipping wine outside under that crisp autumn mountain air amongst the sprawling NOVA vineyards.

So, queue up the next best (local!) thing and my “What’s New” pick for October:
Little did we know, this cute hidden gem was basically in our backyard and only a short 20 minute drive away from us! While there, you can enjoy wine flights, wine slushies, or order their wines by the glass or bottle. I found most (but not all!) of their wines to be refreshing, but on the sweeter side. Some of their popular/featured wines are made from Muscadine grapes, estate blueberries, and Merlot grapes! Yum!

There were several tables and chairs set up along the grassy lawn overlooking the pond and we enjoyed listening to live music under the sprawling oak trees last Saturday afternoon — my favorite! Many other guests around us brought their dogs, along with light snacks, and some brought their own chairs — which is a good idea if they’re super busy.

I ordered a wine flight, naturally, so that I could sample a few of their wines and Phil ordered a couple glasses of their drier red wines. Win-win for us both!
Next time we go, I wanna invite some friends to join us so we can pack a light picnic for a tasty charcuterie board to accompany sharing a bottle with the table. The vineyard also had a cooler of cheeses on site for purchase and we noticed many guests around us came prepared with crackers that they’d packed.

They also had a featured drink ^^ from their Fall Festival a few weekends prior that was so popular, they had to bring it back. It was called an Apple Pie Fizz, so naturally, I had to order one because it had ‘PIE’ in the name! The combo of apple cider and champagne was so good that I am planning to recreate it next month when I host my neighborhood book club ladies, and possibly for our annual Pie Party!

If you’re local, they’re open for two more weekends in November before they close for the off- season. They advised us that this is their fun part time side-gig, so it is best to check their socials for the most up to date hours and availability!
We are very much looking forward to our next springtime visit to Gregory Farms with friends 🍷
