You might remember that one of my resolutions this year was to host more, so when I saw this cake I had the sweetest idea!!
I won’t lie, it feels like life has been rather crazy for us since summer and I am also in disbelief that it’s already September?! So the thought of us hosting a full blown three course dinner party seemed. . .well, a bit overwhelming at the moment. But I didn’t want to let that stop us, so I broke it down into something that seemed more manageable. That was when I realized that a dessert could be a definite (hell!) yes from me, and I knew Phil could have us covered on some bevvys. All we needed to do was get to squeezing a bunch of limes, and invite over some friends to share them with!
Our Key Lime Pie Cake and Moscow Mules ended up being the perfect send-off of summer — it was just the “zest!” Lol, that photo of the cake is the only one we got, so I suppose it was a good lil’ party. After dessert and drinks we all gathered around our firepit which has me excited to enjoy more now that it’s cooling off in the evenings.
Definitely looking forward to hosting another cake + cocktails party soon!
(and please let this be your sign that hosting friends doesn’t have to be over the top — I promise that simple still ends up being a good time!)
