touchdown in CHS 🏈

We took a quick trip down to Charleston during Labor Day weekend with our fellow DINKs, Adam & Krista! It was fun to kickoff the long weekend in the stands for some college football and NDSU defeated The Citadel 38-0 in the season opener. And shoutout to Marriott for some fabulous commercial trash bags that doubled as nifty rain ponchos to keep us dry during the second quarter.

After the game we popped over to the Recovery Room Tavern — we love a good dive bar and crispy tater tots, but (fair warning!) you must close your eyes when it comes to the bathrooms! Lol

For dinner, we ended up at Bay Street Biergarten. The college football continued — we came for the televisions and stayed for the food! It was packed but we still managed to snag a comfy booth. We capped off the evening back at the hotel poolside before ordering warm cookie skillets from the bar.

On Sunday morning we ventured back downtown for a delicious brunch at Church & Union. The pork belly hash was a favorite, my French toast was thiccc and fabulous, and the complimentary gluten free brown sugar scones were devoured!

The weather was absolutely perfect, so we popped right over into the Charleston City Market that was literally right across the street from brunch. While there, Phil & I found some fun and cheeky art prints and a tote for our downstairs from fishprintgirl. As if the day couldn’t have gotten better, the end of the market popped us out right in front of Benne’s which was our next planned stop for some lattes and a slice of coconut cake to-go. When Phil and I eloped to Charleston we had their coconut cake, so we love to grab a reminiscing slice when we’re in town. We continued the stroll down to Waterfront Park to see the Pineapple Fountain before heading over to snap some photos of Rainbow Row.

As always, I wish we’d have had a little more time (because you know ya girl could beep bop around downtown for hours!) but we needed to get back home to our furbies.

Until next time, Charleston!!
