Weekends together never seem quite long enough, but this one squeezed in a lot of everything–good food, fun with friends, mostly nice springtime weather, and a few moments worth saving to our camera rolls.

Friday evening started off with a long dog walk in the park and a quick stop at the library to pick up our weekend movie on DVD. Side note–why do we already pay for so many streaming services and they still can’t offer newish movies?!–I will be damned to have to pay to rent a movie that was released in 2019, so I appreciate that the library saves us every time (please support your local libraries!!)
Afterwards, we headed to Lowe’s Foods to try their $7 bag of coffee–shout out to the Beer Den guy who gave us the tip to come back when it is half off on Fridays. Then we were off to enjoy a patio beverage and pizza dinner at Brunswick Beer and Cider with Rye. While there, some friends popped by our table to say hi and invited us out to the Museum of Beer & Art after dinner for a beer before they closed for good this weekend 💔

On Saturday morning we had the most epic bird watching siting to date when Phil spotted a bald eagle in the trees behind our pond!! Then we loaded up to take care of the not so fun parts of adulting–weekend…grocery…shopping, ugh. All I gotta say is thank goodness for #SampleSaturday at Sam’s Club when you have to deal with the crowds. In the afternoon we met up with a bunch of friends at Leland Brewing for a Mac & Cheese Fest. The crowds were CRAZY and we were bummed that most of the food trucks were sold out of their themed menu items for the event as a result. It was still fun to catch up with friends since we’ve all been so busy though 🍻

On Sunday we woke up semi-exhausted from a what seemed like a combo of a fun-jam-packed weekend; seasonal allergies and the time change catching up with us. By late morning, we got around and moseyed into Wilmington to pick up some sweets from Little Loaf Bakery. We then took our treats downtown and found a picnic bench to sit and share bites of our banana bread muffin and carrot cake (yum!) before taking a stroll down the very windy Riverwalk. On the walk back up, we saw that the window seats at Market House were empty, so we made an impromptu pitstop for a brunch bevvy! They were hosting a fun weekend market and had live music as well. I love how poppin’ places come alive in the springtime.
We headed home for lunch and Phil whipped us up some really savory BLTs with a small focaccia loaf that we’d bought from Little Loaf. We wrapped up the rest of the nice weather before evening storms rolled in by soaking up some sun with mocktails, laying out and I finished this book!
This weekend was such a good one and 7 PM sunsets are back — woohoo!!
What fun weekend plans are on your calendar this spring? 🌼
